Sotheby’s expands own-label collection with new affordable wines
The storied auction house has announced that six new wines will join its portfolio this autumn, all at accessible prices.
Sotheby’s Own Label Collection will grow to 19 wines this autumn with the addition of six new bottles. Priced competitively at between $16.95 and $39.95, the accessible price point is geared towards opening up the world of Sotheby’s to a broader audience, with quality-to-price ratio at the forefront of the launches.
The six new varietals, including a rosé Champagne, Provence rosé, Pinot Grigio, Côtes du Rhône, Chianti Rúfina Riserva, and a Tuscan red blend, each demonstrates the best expression of its region and comes with a special lot number in reference to Sotheby’s auction roots.
The expansion is the latest strategic move in a retail arm of the business that’s been going great guns since opening its first bricks-and-mortar store inside Sotheby’s New York headquarters in 2010, complete with online offering. The auction house has already seen its own-label wines grow by 30% since their initial launch in 2019. And the new additions, the first of which releases in October, is set to continue the positive trend.
The six new wines, a result of Sotheby’s rich network of relationships with growers around the world, represent a price more akin with every day drinking, and will sit side-by-side with investment quality wines at the retail store.
“We are delighted to add six new wines to the collection, each one matching our exacting standards and having proven demand at these prices. We look forward to seeing which wines resonate most with our clients – and extending these outstanding new wines to our Hong Kong retail location in the coming months,” said Jamie Ritchie, worldwide head of Sotheby’s Wine.
All Sotheby’s Own Label Collection wines are available exclusively from sothebyswine.com and via the brand’s flagship New York retail store.
