Sotheby’s Wine: The Gorgeous 2019s from Chablis

Brightness and Energy

I still get excited every autumn when a new Burgundy vintage arrives on store shelves. Vintages are so marked in Burgundy that tasting can feel like a completely different experience every year. Nowhere is this more true than in Chablis, whose outstanding 2019s have just arrived. After the warm and slightly soft style of the 2018s, 2019 represents a welcome return to sapid brightness and energy - everything Chablis should be.

We are pleased to offer a range of the village's best producers. If you haven't tasted Billaud-Simon recently, you may be surprised by just how good the 2019s are; the domaine is really on a roll at present. Moreau-Naudet is still a name not as familiar to Chablis lovers as it should be; these are lovely wines. And finally the brilliant grands crus of Christian Moreau show the full glory of Chablis in their concentrated, incisive, pure style.
